DR. CHARLES KEMPER
PIANO, SINGER, ARRANGER
Dr. Kemper holds piano degrees from University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, University of Houston, and Yale University. Charles has a broad and a deep knowledge of music, its structure and its history. He has a wealth of performing experience as a classical soloist, collaborative pianist, music theater director, piano teacher, harpsichordist and jazz musician. He is organist for Calvary Church in Roseville, and for twenty-two years was the accompanist for VocalEssence. His arrangements for EIS Trio are skillfully crafted to highlight the most salient ideas of great musical compositions using just three musicians. He challenges performers to explore the full potential of their instruments and their musicianship. He challenges the audience to listen to familiar music in an entirely new way.
David's musical understanding and abilities are like a person who speaks many languages–fluently. Since childhood he has explored a huge variety of musical styles. He learned both how they were written and the
differences in how they are performed. His college work at Boston University and study with teachers in Washington, D.C., and Hong Kong have served his career as a freelance musician. He has played clarinet and saxophone in orchestras for opera, musical theatre, and top tier choral productions. He has played in jazz and klezmer bands and in contemporary Christian ensembles. EIS Trio gives David the opportunity to play joyfully and freely in many musical ‘languages’ at a high level of professional excellence.
Nathan has been playing since age eight, and nothing has changed. McPhail School of Music and the MYS and GYTCS youth orchestras were formative in his early musical life. After doing his undergrad and grad studies in violin performance at the University of Minnesota, Nathan opened Integrity Music Academy in 2006. In addition to teaching and managing the academy, he is a busy ‘gigging musician.’ He plays with guitarist Billy McLaughlin, well known regional performing artists, orchestras, and is an active church musician. His versatility and improvisational skills make him an excellent studio musician as well as an invaluable voice in the EIS Trio.
